There just isn't much leeway in an older Mac for the kinds of things that OS X bogs down on, like window resizing or application launch times. Once you start going beyond, say, Office v.X in terms of complexity and feature count in your applications, expect performance to diminish rapidly beyond most people's definition of acceptable. In the PC world "drivers" for legacy hardware can be an issue. Have any of you done this, or know someone who has? I'm sure there are many other issues to upgrading to OS X than simply processor & memory logic board resources, etc. Can it be done? I'm interested in real world experiences.
